Concrete repair products

When resin coatings concrete repair products are applied on not continuous surfaces, there shall be several joints in the concrete or sand-cement screed for different functions. They can be of several types but are fundamentally: static and dynamic joints.
You should ideally have good knowledge of this types because, being the support's weak point, as many as possible must be eliminated before the resin is laid.

Joint classification

Contraction joints
These are made immediately after the floor is cast to avoid withdrawal gaps and have no specific function once the concrete has been cured. These are static joints. They can be recognised as they form a regular mesh on the surface varying from 3 m x 3 m to 5 m x 5 m.

Construction joints
Delimit the daily floor cast and involve the entire floor thickness of the cast itself. Like those above, they are also static unless it is decided that they should coincide with expansion joints; they have no specific function once the concrete has been cured.

Expansion joints
They go along with structural movements due to the change of temperature. They can be sealed or covered with mechanical joints.

Insulation joints
Delimit standing or foundation structural elements from concrete floor such as columns or machine tool equipments and as such must allow for vertical and torsional movements As heavy traffic is not generally allowed near these, due to the encumbrance of columns or the machine tools themselves, they can be closed using elastomeric sealant.

Joints
Joints present on the floor must be cut out with a specific joint-cutter after the coating has been applied, carefully cleaned and suctioned also to a depth. Insertion of specific synthetic joint bottom of the right size for the cut width and placed at the right depth. Then joints will be filled with Pavaflex/E or Pavaflex Mono resin.

Shells
Laying of elastic perimeter shell Pavaflex
Mono range circa 3.0 mm on average, suited to connecting flooring and wall eliminating the corner where dirt can collect.
